しんるいづきあい【親類付き合い】

1 〔親戚間の交際〕 《口》 getting together with one's relatives [relations]; 《文》 (social) intercourse between relatives.

●彼は親類付き合いがよくない. He doesn't (make much effort to) keep in touch with [have much to do with] his relations [relatives]. | He stays away [《文》 aloof] from his relatives.

2 〔親類同然の交際〕

●親類付き合いをする associate with sb as though he were a member of the family; 《口》 be just like family

・私どもではあの家と親類付き合いをしています. We are extremely close to them. | Our two families are as good as relatives [relations].
